How much would my project cost?

Each project is unique and starts with a free, no-obligation consultation and estimate. From there, we can work with you to select the best plants and materials to maximize your budget.

How long does an install take?

At a minimum, our projects start with a three-man crew and last about a half day. When it comes to adding features and more complex designs/installs, the timeline really depends on the scope of the project and the cooperation of the weather.

How soon can you start my job?

As a rule of thumb, the earlier in the year you call the sooner we can get your project scheduled. If you call in late spring, you may have less time to enjoy your new features for the full season. The timeline of each project depends on the scope of the work being done. Typically we can give you an estimated start and completion range after discussing the project over the phone or following an on-site consultation.

What is a spring clean up?

Help keep your new installation looking sharp. A spring clean up removes what winter has left behind (leaves, debris, limbs, etc.), re-edges flower beds, and lays down a fresh layer of attractive mulch.

How can I make sure my plants do well?

Our customers receive a watering and plant care guide once the installation is complete.

What if a plant dies?

All of our plant materials have a one-year warranty.

We find that starting with a landscape design helps you pick the plants and features you really want. While you may not be able to have all the things you want installed initially, we can work with you to create a multi-year plan to install everything you want in phases and stay within your annual budget.

Why shouldn’t I do this myself?

• For starters, you must call all utlility companies to have them mark all lines to avoid accidents.
• Proper installation requires many specific tools which are expensive to buy or rent.
• Installations take time. Frequently you must shoot a proper grade to ensure proper drainage.
• Moving, planting and installing trees, bushes, and pavers is back-breaking work.
• Getting trees, bushes and pavers to the site requires trucks and trailers.
• Many customers are surprised at how much material has to be removed and disposed of when completing a proper installation (sod, dirt, ruble, and dead plants) which will involve disposal fees.

Why should I pay for a design?

You probably already know that there’s more to it than just digging a hole and planting a tree. Good designs ensure your features will last a long time without corrections for things that weren’t planned properly. Things like “size now” vs. “size later,” size vs. your home, climate zones, timing out when things bloom, etc. Our designers will make sure you achieve attractive features throughout the life of your home.

How much does a design cost?

Our minimum professional design is $350 and is deducted from the cost of the project if you choose for us to install the features. The design is yours to keep should you want to complete the installation yourself. Frazee Gardens, located in Brownsburg, carries most plants used in our designs.

When do I pay for my installation?

Most installations require 50% down and the balance upon completion.

Do I have to sign a contract?

Signing both a design and installation contract allows us to schedule your project and ensures that we deliver what you have asked for in your project.

LAWN CARE

What is the frame time between applications?
Generally speaking, there are typically 4-6 weeks depending on weather conditions and applications being applied between our visits.

When can my children and pets go on the lawn?
If granular fertilizer is used, you may go on the lawn immediately. Rounds 1 & 6 are granular only. If liquid weed control is used, (Rounds 2 – 5) allow the material to dry on the grass before children and pets are allowed on it. Drying time will vary with weather conditions.

Why do we have so many weeds?
Airborne seed (and seed which has been in the soil for years) will seek the opportunity to grow in any area of weakness in turf density. Weather extremes usually create these kinds of weak areas, even in the best lawns.

Will you get rid of all of our weeds?
Since Mother Nature is continually interfering, we cannot control them 100%, however, the majority will be well maintained.

After an application is applied, how long before I notice my weeds begin to die?
Once your application of weed control is applied, you should begin to see the weeds wilt and die within 7 – 10 days. Some weed control products are absorbed by the leaf of the plant, while others require the root system to take in the herbicide before you notice any results.

Can I mow the same day as a treatment?
We recommend that you wait to mow 24 – 48 hours after a treatment.

Why do we get crabgrass?
Since most soils are abundant with seeds of annual weeds, they will germinate when the conditions are favorable. Ground temperatures of 75 to 80, thin turf areas, water runoff areas, and disturbed pre-emergent barriers are favorable conditions.

What is the right way to control crabgrass?
Thick turf (no shorter than 3″) and proper applications of an effective granular pre-emergent will discourage annual grasses, such as crabgrass. We recommend you receive all 6 rounds of our lawn care program for best results.

What will aeration do for my lawn?
Aeration opens up the soil, allowing air and water penetration into the root zone of the grass. This can be accomplished by core (removal of a plug) aeration. This process loosens compacted soil and improves root development thereby helping develop a stronger more stress resistant plant and improved thickness in the lawn.

What is the best time of the year for aeration?
Because the process of aeration actually damages the lawn by disturbing the root system, it is recommended that it is completed in the spring and fall.

What could prevent seed from germinating?
The following are required for seed to germinate: 1. Live seed 2. Non-Dormant seed 3. Temperature 4. Oxygen 5. Light 6. Moisture

Should we stay off newly seeded areas?
No, however heavy foot traffic could increase seedling mortality. It is advised that foot traffic remain minimum throughout the germination process, however, once the grass plant has emerged from the soil, light foot traffic is okay.
